The NZ Music Hall of Fame presents inductees with a taonga to mark their induction. We present this to inductees in private and in accordance with Māori protocol.

The “Soundshell”

The “Soundshell” is a gold-plated conch shell sculpted by renowned visual artist Jim Wheeler (www.jimwheelersculptor.co.nz). The interior of the shell bears an outline of Aotearoa with a series of soundwaves radiating outwards into te ao. In the following video, Jim discusses his art and some of the process that went into creating the shell.
